About

From Sound to Code

The hands that once shaped sound now write code.

Kim Sun-kyung (KPS) is a developer and founder who designed and built an entire AI ecosystem — from a Korean programming language to an operating system, audio codecs, and quantitative trading engines, spanning 195+ live services. He writes the language, compiler, VM, and OS himself, and leads a development team to turn ideas into products.

Studying Postmodern Music & Sound Engineering at Kyung Hee University, I learned the architecture of sound. The way frequencies fill a space, the path a signal travels, and the moment it reaches a person— working with sound was, at its core, designing systems.

At Pyeonghwa SNC, as Technical Team Lead for industrial high-pressure cleaning systems, I owned the full hardware development lifecycle— from design specs to mass production, learning firsthand how physical-world requirements become reality. At Fonesound, I led integrated projects delivering church sound, video, lighting & interiors under a single team. I developed technical leadership rooted in seeing an entire space as one system and making decisive calls on the ground.

Completing the Startup Consulting program at Chung-Ang University, Graduate School of Industrial & Entrepreneurial Management, I also learned the language that connects technology to business. Today I work as a Freelance Developer, weaving all of those threads—sound, hardware, the field, management—into code. I build at the intersection of sound, hardware, and software.

One Thread

Where Three Hands Meet

Designing sound, soldering circuits, writing code — somewhere along the way I realized all three were speaking the same language.

Sound

Sound Engineering at Kyung Hee University. At Fonesound, designed and installed church sound, video, and lighting systems. Learned firsthand how a space holds sound — physics understood through the body.

Sound Engineering

Hardware

As Technical Team Lead at Pyeonghwa SNC, oversaw industrial high-pressure cleaning systems from design through mass production. Took full ownership of how electrical and mechanical circuits meet the real world.

Hardware Development

Software

A full-stack developer bridging deep domain knowledge into code. Independently building the Crowny ecosystem — a Korean-language programming language, OS, audio codec, and more.

"Understand how sound meets a space, and you start to see how data meets a system.
Code written by someone who knows the domain runs differently."

What I'm Building

One World, Built by a Team — Crowny

From a Korean-language programming language to an operating system, audio codec, and 195 domains—
an entire ecosystem designed and built by our team.

Custom VM · OS architecture
Native boot on RPi5 / Jetson

Language · Compiler

Hanseon (Korean-language programming language)

A programming language with Korean keywords. The compiler (hanseonc) and pure 4-phase balanced ternary VM were designed and implemented from scratch. ISA729 with 489 opcodes, 225 built-in functions, and 24 standard libraries.

World's first Korean-language 4-phase balanced ternary programming language

Operating System

CrownyOS

A self-hosting pure ternary operating system built entirely in C and Hanseon. Boots natively on RPi5 and Jetson Orin, with GUI rendering and an app registry included.

Bare-metal boot · 94 KB kernel · Custom GUI

Audio Codec Invented by a Sound Engineer

CAF — Crowny Audio Format

An audio codec designed by a sound engineer with thousands of hours setting up church audio and video systems. MDCT vector-based 33-trit architecture — only existing waveforms are recorded. Field instinct translated directly into mathematics.

CAF7 v3.1 production-ready · All 6 KPIs passed

Video · Image Codec

CVF · CIF

Vector-based 4-phase balanced ternary video (CVF) and image (CIF) codecs. Trit-tree structure achieves 73% I/P delta compression, delivering high-efficiency rendering for synthetic content, UI, and gradients compared to PNG.

44/44 tests passed · 4K real-world verified

AI Service

Crowny AI

The central AI of the Crowny ecosystem, powered by a Hanseon backend. Live at crowny.org — featuring dual-routing across three Gemini models, a semantic filter, and accumulated ontology learning.

Ecosystem

195-Service Ecosystem

AI, finance (Pay · Bank · DEX), education (Academy · ERP), design, faith, and community — all running on a Hanseon backend through a single gateway. Each service forms its own world within one coherent vision.

Philosophy

A Technologist Who Understands the Domain

The hands that shaped sound once assembled hardware,
and the eyes that understand hardware now write software.
There are things you can only see when one team brings all three together.

The experience of translating live sound into numbers, the instinct of leading an industrial device from design to production— all of it, I believe, flows into every line of code. That is why our team designed and built from scratch, Hanseon (Korean-language programming language) and 4-phase balanced ternary (四相 均衡 三進)— a fundamentally different foundation that handles three values: true, false, and unknown. Not borrowing tools, but questioning the tools themselves — that is where all of this begins.
